Content calendar
A content calendar is a dated plan of what you will post, on which platform and when, so posting follows a plan instead of the mood of the day.
A content calendar is a plan of what you will publish, on which platform, and on which date. It can be a spreadsheet, a shared document or the calendar view of a scheduling tool. Its job is to turn "I should post more" into a set of dated posts you can see, move and fill in advance.
Example
A founder who posts on LinkedIn three times a week and on X most weekdays might plan one week like this:
| Day | X | |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Lesson from a customer call (text post) | Short version of the same lesson |
| Tuesday | Thread: how we price the product | |
| Wednesday | Behind the scenes of the launch (images) | Reply to the week's industry news |
| Thursday | Quote post of a customer's review | |
| Friday | Weekly numbers, with a question for readers |
Each entry has a platform, a date, a topic and a status (idea, draft, scheduled). Seeing the week at once shows gaps and repeats before they happen.
On LinkedIn
LinkedIn's own guide for creators says consistency helps you build community and suggests aiming for 2 to 5 posts a week. LinkedIn's post composer can schedule a post between 10 minutes and 3 months ahead, and you manage scheduled posts from the composer. Events and jobs cannot be scheduled.
On X
An X calendar can hold shorter entries, and it should leave room for replies and timely posts that nobody can plan a week ahead. X Pro lets you schedule posts in advance and see them in a Scheduled column.
In Postopus
The Postopus calendar shows your LinkedIn and X posts by month or week (day by day on a phone), and you drag a post to another day to reschedule it. You can also set a weekly posting schedule of time slots per platform and use "Add to queue" to put a post in the next free slot.
