How it works

Simple and instant

  1. Start with the picker

Use 'Which size do I need?' to jump straight to a recommendation for common goals: one image everywhere, maximum feed space, link previews, or vertical video.

  2. Open the platform tab

Switch between X, LinkedIn, and Instagram to see the full table of post, profile, cover, carousel, document, and video dimensions with ratios and notes.

  3. Export at the recommended size

Match your export to the pixel size and aspect ratio listed so your image stays sharp and doesn't get cropped in the feed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best image size for a social media post?

A 1080 × 1080 (1:1 square) image works on X, LinkedIn, and Instagram without cropping, making it the safest single size. For maximum feed real-estate on mobile, use 1080 × 1350 (4:5 portrait) on LinkedIn and Instagram. For a landscape link-preview card, use 1200 × 627 (1.91:1).

What size should a LinkedIn post image be?

LinkedIn recommends post photos 1080 pixels wide, in any ratio from 3:1 (wide) to 4:5 (portrait), up to 5 MB. For a Page post with a link, it gives 1200 × 627 (1.91:1). Document (carousel) posts have no set pixel size: every page must be the same size, up to 100 MB and 300 pages. The LinkedIn image sizes guide lists every LinkedIn size with its source.

What are the current Instagram image sizes?

Feed posts: 1080 × 1350 (4:5 portrait, most vertical space), 1080 × 1080 (1:1 square), or 1080 × 566 (1.91:1 landscape). Stories and Reels: 1080 × 1920 (9:16 vertical). Carousels: keep one ratio (usually 4:5) across all slides so nothing crops.

What size is an X (Twitter) image?

In-stream post images display at 16:9: export at 1600 × 900 for a crisp landscape image, or 1080 × 1080 for a square that fills more vertical space. The profile photo is 400 × 400 (shown as a circle) and the header/banner is 1500 × 500 (3:1).

Do these sizes change?

Yes. Platforms periodically adjust recommended dimensions and re-encode uploads. The sizes here reflect current 2025–2026 guidance and accepted ranges. For a high-stakes launch, double-check the platform's own help centre before exporting your final assets.
