How it works

Simple and instant

  1. Type or Paste Your Post

Enter your post and watch the preview update as you type. The number above the box is what is left of Bluesky's 300 graphemes, where every emoji counts as 1 and a link counts every character.

  2. Split a Long Post Into a Thread

Click Thread splitter to break long text into posts of 300 or fewer. Choose a numbering style (none, 1/N or 🧵). The splitter never cuts inside a link, a mention or a hashtag.

  3. Copy Each Post

Use Copy on each post, or Copy all to get the whole thread separated by dividers. On Bluesky, publish the first post, then reply to it with the next one, and so on down the thread.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How Long Can a Bluesky Post Be?

300 graphemes, which are the characters a reader sees on screen. Every emoji counts as 1, and so does each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character. A link counts every character of its address. For the count on its own, use the Bluesky Character Counter.

How Does the Thread Splitter Decide Where to Split?

It works down a priority list. It first tries a paragraph break (a blank line), then the end of a sentence (a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark followed by a space), then a word boundary. If a run of text has no spaces at all, it cuts between characters. Links, mentions and hashtags are never split.

What Does Numbering Do to My Character Budget?

Numbering adds text to each post, such as ' 1/5' at the end or '🧵 ' at the start, and that text counts toward the 300. The splitter counts it the way Bluesky does, where the 🧵 emoji counts as 1, and leaves room for it, so every post fits with its number.

Does the Preview Show Images or Link Cards?

No. The preview shows the text of your post. A Bluesky post can also carry up to four images, each with its own alt text, or a link card for a web page, which this tool leaves out.

Is This Tool Free?

Yes. No account, no sign-up and no credit card. The preview and the splitter run entirely in your browser.
