A post failed to publish
Why a post can fail, how Postopus retries, and how to publish it again.
How you find out#
A failed post shows a red warning icon in your post list, with the reason when you point at it, and a red dot on the calendar. A Failed tab appears first under Posts. Owners and admins also get a notification in the app and, unless they turned it off, an email.
What Postopus already tried#
When LinkedIn or X is busy, rate-limits a request or the network drops, Postopus tries again on its own, a minute or two apart, up to three attempts in all. A post is marked failed only after that, or straight away when trying again would not help, for example when the account's connection has expired.
If the post went to two accounts and only one failed, the other stays published. The post shows as partially failed.
Fix it and publish again#
Read the reason on the post, then:
| The reason says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your session or connection expired | Reconnect the account, then retry or reschedule. |
| Too many requests | Wait a moment, then retry. |
| This post has already been published | Change the text, then publish. LinkedIn and X refuse an exact repeat. |
| The trial or plan has ended | Pick a plan, or ask the workspace owner to, then reschedule. |
| X media processing failed | Try a different file. See An image or video was rejected. |
To publish again, open the post's menu and choose Retry to publish now, or Reschedule to pick a new time. You can also drag it to another day on the calendar. Retry only publishes to the accounts that failed, so nothing is posted twice.
Still failing?#
If a thread failed and some of its posts were already published, Postopus asks you to contact support. Write to support@postopus.com, or use Support in the app's sidebar.
