Publish and schedule posts
Write one post for LinkedIn and X, preview it, then publish it now or pick a date and time.
Write the post#
Choose Create Post in the sidebar, pick the accounts to post to, and write. The live previews show how the post will look on LinkedIn and on X, including where LinkedIn cuts the text with "...more". The counter shows how many characters you have left:
| Limit | |
|---|---|
| LinkedIn post | 3,000 characters |
| X post | 280 characters, or 25,000 if your X account has Premium |
You can send the same text to both, or write a different version for each platform. Drafts save on their own as you type.
Publish now#
Open Publish and choose Publish Now. The post goes out to the accounts you picked.
Schedule a date and time#
Open Publish and choose Schedule Post. Pick a date, a time and a timezone. The date picker marks days that already have scheduled posts. Postopus publishes the post at that time; you do not need to keep the app open.
To fill your next free time slot instead, use Add to queue. See The posting schedule and queue.
Your timezone#
By default, times use your device's timezone. To change that, open Settings > Preferences. You can always use a specific timezone, or have Postopus ask you each time you schedule.
Post statuses#
A post is a draft, scheduled, published or failed. If publishing fails for a reason that may pass, such as LinkedIn or X being busy, Postopus tries again a couple of times before it marks the post failed. See A post failed to publish.
Notifications#
By default you get an email when a scheduled post fails to publish. You can also get an email each time a post is published. Turn these on or off in Settings > Notifications.
Share a preview#
To show a post to someone outside your workspace, choose Share preview on the post. It creates a read-only link to the post.
