Voice input
Say it out loud in the editor or in Ideas. Tako tidies what you said and you choose which version to keep.
Sometimes it is easier to say a post than to type it. Press the microphone, talk, and your words come back as text. Tako then tidies them up, and you choose which version goes in.
Where you can use it#
- In the editor: the microphone sits in the bar under the text box, next to the emoji button. The text goes in where your cursor was, or at the end if you had not clicked into the post yet.
- In Ideas: choose Capture an idea by voice under New idea. What you keep becomes a new idea.
Record#
- Press the microphone. The first time, your browser asks if Postopus can use it. Say yes.
- Talk. A timer shows how long you have been going. A recording can be up to 5 minutes, and it stops by itself at 5 minutes.
- Press Stop when you are done, or Cancel (or Escape) to throw it away.
Choose what to keep#
When the text is ready, you see two versions, one above the other:
- What you said: the words as they were heard.
- Tako's cleanup: the same words, tidied.
Tako's cleanup only does three things. It removes fillers and false starts ("um", "like", a word said twice), fixes words that were misheard and adds punctuation, and breaks the text into readable lines. It keeps your words, their order and your opinions. It never adds an idea, a fact or a new opening line. It also follows your own writing rules for punctuation and formatting, such as no em dashes.
Choose Use cleaned or Keep as I said it. Nothing goes in until you choose. If Tako changed more than a cleanup should, you see a note asking you to check it first.
Your recording#
The recording is sent to OpenAI to turn it into text, then dropped. Postopus does not keep the audio, only the text you choose to keep.
Limits#
Turning speech into text and the cleanup both use your workspace's monthly AI allowance, like the rest of Tako's help. See fair-use limits.
If the microphone does not work#
- Postopus can't use your microphone: you said no when the browser asked. Allow the microphone for Postopus in your browser's site settings, then try again.
- This browser can't record audio: use a recent version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari, or type instead.
- We didn't hear any words: the recording was silent. Check the right microphone is selected and try again.
